Overview of the Manhattan Plaza HD-S2 Freesat HD Receiver

The purpose of this section is to offer a complete users guide which contains video instructions covering the uses, installation and technical advice for a Manhattan Plaza HD-S2 Freesat HD receiver

  • Unpack the Box
    • Manhattan Plaza HD-S2 Freesat HD Satellite Receiver
    • Remote Control & Batteries
    • HDMI Cable
    • User's Manual
  • Screw the lead from the satellite dish into the LNB in connection
  • Connect the HDMI cable from TV to HDMI connection on box
  • Plug in the power lead
  • You may need to select the correct AV / Source on your TV at this point for HDMI input

First Time Install Using Postcodes to Tune in Freesat Channels

When you plug in a Freesat HD Receiver, one of the first things you will be asked for is your postcode. The idea of this is to set up the regional variations of BBC, ITV etc for where you live.

  • Note: You must have the satellite dish connected to the receiver for this procedure
  • Enter your postcode - Use BT11AA for NI regional variations (BBC NI & UTV etc)
  • Adjust your settings to suit your TV, default is usually OK
  • Note: You can enter your own parental code at this point (Do not forget this code!!!

How to Use the Freesat EPG & Info Functionality

FREESAT EPG

  • A great feature of a Freesat receiver is that it comes with a full 7 day EPG
  • This allows the viewer to access programme information on all channels for the coming week
  • Press the 'GUIDE' button
  • A programme menu will be displayed which groups channels by genre e.g. 'Entertainment' or simply as 'All Channels'
  • For the current programme on the channel you are on, the following information will be displayed
    • Name of the programme
    • Start and finish time
    • Summary of the programme
  • To see the information for the programme
    • For the next programme use the → arrow button
    • For another channel use the ↑ ↓ arrow buttons
    • Use the yellow button to go forward 24+ hrs

FREESAT INFO

  • The advantage of this option is that it displays information on screen with the programme
  • On whatever channel you are viewing press the 'i' button
  • An infomation banner will display
    • Programme name
    • Start and finish time
  • Press 'i' button again to see a programme summary

Using the Subtitles & Teletext Features

FREESAT SUBTITLES & AUDIO DESCRIPTION

This is a very handy and easy to use function but is not available on all programmes

  • To turn on Subtitles press 'SUB' button
  • To turn off Subtitles press 'SUB' button again
  • You can also turn on/off (Audio Description) using the AD button on the remote

FREESAT TELETEXT

This button can be used to both bring up teletext onto the screen or also display multiple screen options

  • Select BBC 1
  • Press the red button or text button
  • Very quick and responsive.
  • The teletext menu can be accessed by selecting the relevant section or page number
    • e.g. 300 Sport

Factory Reset & How to Change the Default Region

It is possible to re-install your freesat HD receiver by performing a factory reset. This will wipe all the existing channels and settings on your receiver and do a complete new install where you can change the deafult region if you so desire

  • Press the menu button on the remote
  • Arrow to system
  • Arrow to factory default and press OK
  • Asks for pin which is 0000 (4x Zeros or whatever you set pin number as during installation)
  • Box will reboot and you go through the 1st time installation again
  • You can change the default region to something else at this point
  • For example, London SW1W3RQ

How to Add & View Non Freesat Channels

There are a number of free-to-air satellite channels that may be of interest to viewers but do not come on freesat boxes such as EWTN etc. The Freesat box allows you to add these channels manually

STEP 1: ADD NON-FREESAT CHANNELS

  • Press the menu button on the remote
  • Arrow to system
  • Got to add non Freesat channels
  • Choose manual scan
  • Manually enter the settings for the channel you want to tune in
  • Enter your frequency, symbol rate and polarity at this point
  • For example 11260, 27500, Vertical
  • Press OK to scan
  • Exit back out to live TV

STEP 2: TO VIEW NON-FREESAT CHANNELS

  • You must enter non Freesat mode to view non Freesat channels
  • You can change between Freesat and non-Freesat channels by using the 'List' button on the remote
  • Once in 'List' menu, use the arrow buttons to go between Freesat & non-Freesat modes
  • Not all Freesat functionality will be available on non-Freesat channels
