USES of F Type Connectors

• Essential component for all domestic satellite and most TV aerial installs
• Satellite:  satellite dish, satellite receiver, link amplifiers, distribution systems etc
• Aerials: Power units, Masthead amplifers, distribution

ADVANTAGES of F Type Connectors

• They are far cheaper than coaxial plugs
• They achieve a much lower level of singal loss than coaxial plugs
• They are are the quickest and easiest connector to install
• Less likely to plug out by mistake than coax connector and joiner
• No special tools are needed to fit this connector

DISADVANTAGES of F Type Connectors

• For many types of equipment e.g. Videos, DVDs etc Coaxial rather f-type connectors are the normal
• F type distribution boxes are normally 25% more expensive than coaxial distribution systems
• They do not give the same rock solid join to the cable that is achieved when using compression f connectors
• Not very suitable for large commerical jobs where a huge number of cables terminate in the same location as twist on F connectors are hard on the fingers  after prolonged screwing on and off - better option is Compression F
