Frequency Change – BBC3, BBC4, BBC News, CBBC, CBEEBIES, BBC ALBA – October 12th 2012

A frequency changed occurred on the 12th of October 2012 that will affect some BBC channels. Some of the channels below will go blank or missing and some of the other will replace the existing channel on the same transponder but will be named with their former name ie.. BBC ALBA will be broadcasting under the name BBC NEWS. These are the symptoms to look out for on your receiver. If you see these issues, then all you have to do is follow the simple instructions below and you’ll be able to tune them back in quicky.

See the new transponder settings below

BBC Three / CBBC and BBC News

  • Symbol Rate: 22000
  • FEC: 5/6 (Optional)

BBC Four / CBeebies and BBC Red Button stream 1

  • Polarity: H
  • Symbol Rate: 22000
  • FEC: 5/6 (Optional)

BBC Alba

  • Frequency: 10803
  • Polarity: H
  • Symbol Rate: 22000
  • FEC: 5/6 (Optional)

This change will affect free to air receivers such as SD and HD free to air satellite receivers. Combo Receivers both generic and Saorview approved will also be affected. This frequency change will obviously NOT affect standalone Saorview boxes or generic digital TV receivers.

Owners of official Freesat or Freesat+ receivers will not be affected in that their boxes will automatically retune.

The settings above should work for all free to air receivers. The procedure may well be different than in the video as this video was made using a Xoro 9000 Combo Receiver but if you go to our video user manuals page and select your receiver, you can see how to do it on your model. Once you are on the correct video manual page for your receiver, scroll down to the video that shows you how to manually add a transponder (TP) or how to manually tune in a satellite channel and then you can use the settings above to tune in the missing or blank channels.

Once scanned in, they new channel will be automatically added to the end of your channel list. All channels that are on the particular transponders that you scanned will be added to your channel list. After scanning them in, you can now arrange the formerly not working channels into the order you wish, again using the videos in the video user manual for your particualr box to show you how to sort/delete channels on your particualr receiver.

After performing these simple procedures, you will have your BBC Three, BBC Four, CBBC, Cbeebies, BBC News and BBC Alba back on your receiver and in the correct positions to suit yourself. You may have to delete to old non working versions of the channels from your channel list also if required and this is also covered in the sort/delete channels section of our video user manuals.
