As part of the policy we sponsor and help organise the annual “Spring Clean” of Portarlington – which is the largest single clean event organised in Ireland each year. (See photos below) TvTrade’s sister company, TheGardenShop.ie supplied gloves, bags etc and helped cover other costs involved with running the event.  Portarlington Spring Clean 2012 This year’s event, was timed to coincide with RTE’s “Dirty Old Town” TV programme, which this year featured Portarlington. It involved the effort of over 250 local volunteers, who came out and gave 2 hours each of their time to clean their local road, housing estate and such public amenities such as Corrig Wood. The presence of Diarmuid Gavin at this year’s event was a great boost to local morale and added a little glamour to all our litter picking. The event is now the largest clean up of its type held in Ireland and is a great example of how local businesses, schools, the Local Authourities and wider community can come together to make a real difference.

Around the same time we broke into the top 20 most viewed youtube channels in Ireland aswell. Since we started making the video guides, we have added over 500 videos to aid in the selction of the correct product for your needs and also to help with the installation of same. The video guides on the TV Trade website have always got good viewing figures but over the past couple of months, they have jumped almost 50%. At current viewing figures we will have reached a million views before the end of the year. We started the YouTube channel on July 2009 so that’s not too bad really, a million views in just over 2 years. At current viewing rates however, we are on track for over a million views per year showing that there was really a need for these online and the comments and feedback we get every single day from customers makes all the time and effort put into these videos worthwhile. So make sure you check out our video guides where ever you see the following graphic and click on the tab on that product page. What’s more is that if you have previously bought receiver from us that is no longer produced or stocked, you can still find all the relevant videos for the product on our YouTube channel which contains all the archives of every video we ever made. Today we are pleased to announce that we have launched a new Garden Equipment and Supplies website. As you can see above the site is called The Garden Shop. We hope to apply the same business model to this website, enabling us to offer a huge range of gardening products at the very lowest cost possible. If you’ll excuse the pun, the website is ‘growing’ at the moment and has around 100 items in stock currently. This will rise rapidly to 100s of items including watering equipment, lawn care products, veg seeds, flower seeds & bulbs, animal care (both domestic and wild), greenhouses, sheds, fencing, wire, tools etc to name but a few.
The good news for our existing customers is that your current login from TV Trade will also work on The Garden Shop (if you were registered before May 2011) so why not stop by and have a browse.
Of course, over time, we will have a massive selection of advice and videos on The Garden Shop website also to help guide you in your purchase and in the after care of products or seeds you may have bought.

The Irish Satellite & Aerial Association (ISAA) are pleased to announce their recognition as an Aerial and Satellite installation body by RTÉ’s new digital TV service ‘Saorview’.
As all analogue broadcasting throughout Europe must cease by the end of 2012, RTÉ are encouraging viewers to use competent, trained, professional installers for Saorview and the forthcoming Saorsat service.
The aim of the ISAA is to provide to the consumer a body of aerial and satellite installers who meet the following criteria:
The ISAA will provide comprehensive modular training courses relevant to the Irish TV market with emphasis to ‘Saorview’ and ‘Saorsat’, these courses will be FAS or FETAC approved.
************************************************************************************** April 11, 2011Google Loves Our TV Aerials Love lifts us up where we belong Another exciting google related development for us at TV Trade happened over the weekend. We now find ourselves top of google for TV Aerials, adding to our ever increasing popularity with the worlds #1 search engine. Not only do we now occupy the no. 1 slot but google has saw fit to include us in the no. 2 position aswell. This is particularly relevant with the launch of Saorview underway.
It just goes to show that with hard work, good things (google-wise) do happen and is yet another major pat on the back for the TV Trade Tech team from google. Any clown can buy an advert but it takes real quality of content to get to no. 1 in the organic searches in google and as we say in-house; (Google) Love lifts us up where we belong:-) But you definitely don’t want to hear us sing it!!!
