We have just added HomePlugs to our vast range of Satellite TV & Digital TV equipment. Homeplugs basically allow the used to add additional network point in the home or office without the need to run additional Cat5 cables. The work by transmitting your ethernet signal through the existing powerlines in your building at a different frequency to the electricl supply. The are very easy to set up. You just plug them into the electrical socket, one beside your router and one in the location where you would like to plug in an additional networked device. Simply plug an ethernet cable into both ends of the homeplugs set and off you go.
Why would you use homeplugs instead of tradittional cat5 cabling or transmit the signal wirelessly? Well traditional methods are not suitable for everyone. Not everyone wants to or can run additional cat5 cable. Maybe you don’t want to drill walls or go to the expense of hiring in a contractor to do same. From a wireless standpoint. Some older buildings (proper built unlike newer houses unfortunately) with solid walls can have issues with wifi in my experience and a homeplug set is ideal in these circumstances.
We of course have an array of traditional networking equipment also on the site including;
- Cat5 Cables
- Cat5 Joiners
- RJ45 & RJ11 crimp tools
- Wall Plates
- Keystone Jacks
- RJ45 Connectors
to name but a few. The homeplugs are the latest addition to the networking category which is ever growing and increasing in popularity
