How to use the QR Codes on TV Trade

A lot of customers have asked us over the last few months about the QR Codes that appear with our range of satellite receivers and saorview boxes.  What are QR Codes, How do I use them, How do I scan them into my iphone, smartphone etc.   We did up a short video above to show them in action.   Basically, for the majority of our range of receivers there will be an additional image (thumbnail picure under the main image on the product page).  If you enlarge this thumbnail image, you’ll see something like below.

QR Code

The QR Code is the Square symbol in the top left.   It looks like a wierd barcode.   It is a form of barcode but it is far more than your average barcode.   QR Codes can contain lots of information including URLs (webpage addresses) and upon scanning them with your iphone or perhaps android phone, it will take you directly to that web address so you can view that page on your smart phone.

The idea here is to scan in the QR Code for that receiver or set top box’s user video manual.   That way you can watch the instructional video guides on your phone.   This can be very handy where it may be awkward to bring your laptop with out when setting up a receiver or perhaps you don’t have a laptop and have a desktop PC instead with won’t be portable at all and it will save you running to and fro to get all the information you need.

Your smartphone may not come with a QR reader by default but can easily be downloaded in a couple of minutes from the applicable Apps Store and what’s better, it will be free.

Have a look at the video above, best to watch it in HD and full screen.  It’s all part of the service here at TV Trade.
