Note: Always used with Quattro LNB
USES of 5x8 Satellite MultiSwitch
- Used in conjuction with a Quattro LNB and a 80cm dish to distribute the satellite (and if you use a Launch amplifier Terrestrial TV) signal to a number a number of TV points
- Ideal Lost cost unit when you are only distributing satellite signal.
Used extensively in
- Hotels
- Apartment blocks
- Retirement villages
HOW the 5x8 Satellite MultiSwitch Works
Quattro Vs Traditional LNB
- Traditional LNB which simply feeds a Satellite receiver from each output
- Quattro LNB splits the satellite signal into
- Vertical (High & Low) and
- Horizontal (High & Low)
- This allows the signal to to feed to an infinite amount of Satellite points
How a Quattro LNB and Multiswitch work
- Used in conjunction with a Quattro LNB (normally mounted on an 80cm dish) whose 4 outputs are broken into
- Vertical (High & Low)
- Horizontal (High & Low)
- Multiswitch inputs:
- satellite: 4 from satellite quttro LNB satellite
- Terresttial: a single feed covering full VHF / UHF Spectrum
- satellite: 4 from satellite quttro LNB satellite
- Multiswitch range:
- Outputs: 8, 16 or 32 outputs to Satellite receivers
- At the TV Point:
- use a Faceplate to split the signal into Satellite and terrestrial
ADVANAGES of 5x8 Satellite MultiSwitch
- This unit with a single 80cm satellite dish can feed a small apartment block
- Works well with on satellite and also on Terrestrial (if you use a launch amplifier)
- Can be very cost efficient on medium sized commerical jobs
- This is a reliable low cost unit from German company Smart Electronics
DISADVANAGES of 5x8 Satellite MultiSwitch
- Not really suitable for small scale operations e.g. for any job with less than 8 satellite receivers
- Alignment and setup can be very complicated and frustrating - possibly not for the DIYer
- Need to plan properly and use high quality cable CT100 or CT165 if it is to work corrrectly through a large scheme
- MUST ONLY BE used with a Quattro LNB
- If you are going combine in the Terrestrial TV aerial you will need to use a 'Launch Ampifier' to boost the signal
